Where do I begin, to tell the story of a ....wait...any of you out there that have music running through your head right about now: Please, Join me in feeling old.
Lets see: Secret Pal 5; Boybands; Thunder, Hail & Lightning; A few Dr's Appts, My first trip to Austin WITHOUT going to the LYS (See, I lived through it) and, oh yes, my first Porn Spam!
Last week I got news of my Secret Pal(s) - that was lots of fun and I guess sooner or later I'm going to have to come clean on my blog to my husband - I don't think he knows what a blog is but he doesn't know I have one. I haven't really been keeping it a secret but I still feel kind of funny about it. Anyone out there know what I mean? Anyway, he's going to want to know why I'm buying all of these goodies.
Anyone ever heard of a band called Steeltrain? They are from the New York area but have been touring all over - I know because college girl has this "thing" about them. She has seen them many times and travelled great distances to do so. She has followed them around this state for days and somehow made friends with them. Last week they played in Austin so OF COURSE she had to be there - even if it DID mean driving up by herself and staying at the house alone. Several hours after the concert they discovered they had nowhere to stay for the night. Gee whiz, it's lucky we have this extra house so my 19 year old daughter can spend the night with 5 men. Evidently they were all perfect gentlemen and even got up and made their beds. The next night they played in Houston and we got to actually MEET THEM! I'm too old to hang out in smoky clubs until 11 pm to watch a bunch of kids play their guitars - but in this case I made an exception. I told them I thought it would have been funny if she had made a shirt to wear that night that said "I slept with the band last night" - she didn't think that was funny. I don't know why...?
Anyway, we went on up and checked on the house (and washed all the sheets!) spent the weekend resting and on Sunday afternoon got a call that the band was making their way back through Texas and needed a place to stay again that night. Oh good, our chance to get them to sign the refrigerator so we can sell it on eBay after they win their first Grammy. Unfortunately - or fortunately...? - the horrible weather that evening convinced them to stay in San Antonio instead.
And husband has been dealing with a pinched nerve in his neck for about 3 weeks now - which means we have bee to the Dr's office twice and to a physical therapist 3 times - and my fear of him going to the Dr. has resurfaced in a BIG way.
Mostly I feel like I am filled with a big dark cloud.
Sometimes there is a storm of tears at the end - sometimes there is thunder and lightning to go along with it - and yesterday was more like a tornado. I don't think there is enough pranayama in the universe to get me through it, but I'm trying. And next week we get to go to the cardiologist. yippeeee. That's always fun.
