Excitement at The Knitting Nest!

Oh my goodness, we have so much going on it's hard to keep track of things!

Tuesdays are always busy at the store but yesterday was especially exciting because Austin's own Leslie Cochran was across the street getting lunch at the Sonic and Staci ran across 6 lanes of traffic to offer him a Knitting Nest T-Shirt. He was very polite and thanked Staci and told her next time he was down here he'd come into the store to thank us personally. Well it didn't take long - he was back today!! He came in and thanked me for his shirt, had a few words with Hank and then pulled a milk bone out of one of his many bags. (I told him Hank was spoiled and didn't really like any kind of dog treats.) Then Leslie commented on how hot it was outside and pulled a water bottle out of a bag and had a drink and ..then.. offered me a sip. He said it was full of Peppermint Schnapps! Then he winked at me and was on his way. What fun! Sorry everyone missed his visit - (especially YOU Steph,) Amanda and I were the only ones in the store.

Next up! The Yarn Harlot will be in Austin next Thursday, May 28th, at Book People - I am hoping we have a wonderful turnout - everyone bring your socks to hold up for her.

Plans are being finalized for World Wide Knit In Public Day on Saturday, June 13th. Franklin will be back in the store and will be teaching a Lace Class from 11 am to 2 pm. There are only 20 spots available and I have already gotten three people signed up so speak up quickly if you are interested. There will be more information regarding the class on the store website. After the class we are hoping Franklin will just hang out, relax and chat - he's lots of fun. We have lots of copies of "It Itches" that you can buy and have Franklin sign while he's here. I've been saving a blank wall for Tom Hanks to sign (you know, the next time he comes by) but I may have to let Franklin loose again with a Sharpie.
And, speaking of Tom, I owe Staci a big Thank You for working for me Sunday -I got to go to a real live movie with Mr. Wonderful - we had popcorn and everything! Such a simple thing... and we had such a nice time. (Okay, okay - It didn't hurt to see Tom swimming in a little bitty black bathing suit.)

And next Monday, the 25th, the store will be closed for Memorial Day. Stay home and watch Capt. John H. Miller. He's really cute.

Here's another cutie:

You know - Staci knows how to crochet. She's more than welcome to teach a certain private lesson for me.
Looking forward to the next couple weeks!

hehe AWESOME. I almost packed the kids up but figured he was in and out...and there was going to be some interesting explanations to individuals of short stature in my care. I'd teach Leslie to crochet any day, esp if he has peppermint schnapps!

So looking forward to Franklin being here!! If he needs a kid or baby to take a picture of...let me know. I have two camera hogs available.

I sure hope I can get the shorties finished in time. Can't wait!!
