Geeze, between keeping up with my farm on Farmville, keeping track of @TomHanks and @Meg_Ryan on twitter and getting ready for the Yarn Crawl, (which also included too much time of Facebook and Twitter discussing the upcoming events) I've been too busy to blog.
But now it's important.
I know most of you have heard the story about Staci jumping up one day, grabbing a Knitting Nest t-shirt and running across Slaughter (Yes, she's crazy, but we knew that already) and giving it to Leslie Cochran while he was at The Sonic. Some of you may have even heard about him showing back up in the store the next day with a milk bone for Hank and offering me a drink from his water bottle filled with Peppermint Schnapps. Yum.
By now everyone knows that Leslie was hit by a car and has been in a coma in the ICU at Brackenridge Hospital for several days. He is finally getting better but his family has come forward and said they don't think he'll ever be back to normal...wait...what exactly is normal for Leslie? Oh well, whatever it is, we would like to get everyone to make a square so we can make him a blanket. We have spent a lot of time at The Knitting Nest watching Leslie walk up and down Slaughter and have even gotten to have some up close and personal time with him at Guerros when Franklin was here the first time - I can still hear Franklin's smooth little voice saying "What the hell....?"
This Sunday, on October the 18th, The Knitting Nest will host the first ever
KNIT-IN FOR LESLIE.
We are asking for people to make squares out of worsted weight Superwash and to use the Yarn Harlot One Row Stitch:
SQUARES FOR LESLIE
Using US 7 or 8 needles, cast on 42 stitches.
Knit 2, Knit into the back of the next stitch, then purl 1. Repeat these 4 stitches until you have two stitches left on the row - knit the last 2.
Repeat this row until you have a square.
Bring to The Knitting Nest!!
