Famous on the Internet

The company who did my website, Paravel Design, is using the pumpkin I carved for the Grand Opening for their front page for Halloween - Check it Out!
Anyone who needs a website needs to get in touch with these guys - they were awesome to work with and, after all, they came up with the little birdie.
Thanks Guys!

I've been tagged.

Wow, by two different people for the same meme. Since I can't seem to take the time out to blog much lately and the store is eerily quiet this morning I'm going to try and finish this - I've started twice before and learned quickly: If you want to get a customer to come in the store, get busy doing something on the computer that needs your full attention. Or start knitting. Ha!
Okay. 8 Random things about me. Hmmm. I don't mind doing these things but I rarely pass them on. If you want to join in, consider tourself tagged.

1. I just got a haircut for the first time in 8 months. Whew, that feels better!
2. I just bought the first car I have owned in over 10 years that is not silver.
3. I also felt like a traitor trading in the car that I spent so much time in Running from Rita. We kind of had a bond after that because it took such good care of me and the kitties and never got hot sitting in the glaring heat in front of that horrible yellow building. (I know, I know. I'll get over that some day.)
4. I cannot STAND to be held down. That comes from having an older brother who used to pin me down and let spit drip on me. You won't read much on here about my older brother - gee, I wonder why......
5. I am a Martha Stewart freak. I even sent her several cards and letters while she was in prison. I also succeeded in bewildering our stockbroker by making quite a bit of money on her stock.
6. I would love to live on Martha's Vineyard someday and eat nothing but clam chowder and grilled cheese sandwiches from The Black Dog.
7. I used to be the President of The James Taylor Fan Club. Really. Free tickets. Backstage passes. Dinner with the band. Met his daughter Sally. All that stuff. Then he changed wives and management companies and it was all over. But boy was it fun while it lasted!! You can hear his beautiful voice here.
8. Oh yeah, I also love Tom Hanks. Did you guys know that? We have a TV going up in the corner of the store and I'm working on a continuous loop DVD called "TOM-TV. All Tom. All the Time."

Not really. But I like the idea...........
I think I'll go knit.

It's All Good

JT game 2.jpg
James Taylor before Game 2 of the World Series.

I guess this is an even trade. Tom is unhappy but James is happy.

(Hey. If Crazy Aunt Purl can have Al Gore for a boyfriend I can have Tom Hanks and James Taylor. My husband isn't threatened and I doubt their wives are too worried. This might be news to some of you who are new to the blog but James and I go way back. I'll be happy to tell you all about it. Probably better that you DON'T get me started...)

Too bad I missed it earlier because I was getting a real live haircut. Yep, I got 4 inches chopped off and might actually be recognizable next weekend while I play Mother of the Groom at Bridal Shower #1. We'll see.

Pssst. New Hill Country Sock Yarn came in today. More about that tomorrow. I have a video of the National Anthem to find online.

Sorry, Tom.

I guess that Cleveland's biggest fan (as well as most handsome) is not happy this morning - oh well, like you said here "There is no crying in baseball!!"

We Have Winners!

First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who came out on Saturday. The entire day was just awesome. There are some wonderful pictures on several blogs - Thanks Susan, Stephanie and Caro for the great pictures and all of the nice things everyone is saying out there on the internet.
Also, thanks for the day off on Sunday. It was the first day I have been closed in a month and I enjoyed every minute of it - HOW ABOUT THOSE PATRIOTS!!!
What a game. I didn't even get my knitting out - it was THAT exciting.

Now let's get down to business. I had my buddies next door at the Liquor Store draw the names of the winners for the 4 prizes.
And they are:
1st Prize Winner is Lydia Kendrick (Bagsmith Knitters Attache full of yarn)
2nd Prize Winner is Julie Gray (Sock Monkey Bag & Sock Goodies)
3rd Prize Winner is Anita Savage (Complete Lavender collection from Hummingbird Farms)
4th Prize Winner is Alice Imholte (Stitch & Bitch Book and Calendar)

Winners come on in and collect your prizes and please remind me to take a picture!

Next up - we have a few classes scheduled so far but I promise November will be busting at the seams with classes as soon as we can get them all planned.
So far we have a Brown Bag class scheduled for Thursdays in November at 2 pm. It will be a two part class for two hours. The first class will be the 1st and the 8th. The second class will be the 15th and the 29th. There are only 6 spots available for each class, so if you know someone who wants to learn to knit let them know - this is the perfect class.
We also have a beginner crochet class this Sunday afternoon - there are two spots left for that - if you are interested let me know. We also have a crochet class in the planning stages for the Seraphim Shawl - the store model is almost finished and we will have a sign up sheet soon.

Any other class suggestions?
Anyone else out there have a project you just LOVE and want to teach a class?
Let me know!
