A Finished Object

yellow pf sweater.jpg
It's true that Yarn Shop Owners don't get to sit around and knit all the time but I did actually manage to finish something!
This is a 0-3 Month Baby Sweater made from Peace Fleece. It will be hanging out in the store for a while.

Everyone have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!

He is so damn cute.

Sorry if you were in the store yesterday at 3:59 pm and you were one of the people I locked in the storage room for an hour for TOM-TV.

NOT REALLY.

But, for all you crazy people who come in and say, "What's the deal with Tom Hanks?" I realized yesterday after Oprah that the reason I like him so much is because he reminds me of MY wonderful husband. I mean, come on, Rita Wilson doesn't have an awesome yarn shop in Austin Texas, now does she?????

Alrighty, then.

Ravelry Party - Tonight - 6:30 to whenever.....

I will be closing tomorrow at noon because I need to cook.

Coming Friday: Our First Ever Sale!

Franklin, We Love You!

Wow - a real live comment on my little ol' blog from MR. FRANKLIN HABIT - Yippeee!
I think we need a name for the entire project to further persuade Mr. Habit and Dolores that we are, indeed, serious.
So far we have:
Franklin Habit: World Tour 2008
Franklin Takes on Texas
Dolores Van Hoofen - Live - South Austin 2008
Dolores Goes South for the Winter
Dolores Does Sixth Street

Any other ideas from all of you creative people out there?

In other news: I have ordered reloadable Gift Certificates with the store logo on them and have started a Christmas Wish List Box for those of you who want to send people to the store to buy you an easy Christmas present. Come in, fill one out, put it in the box. How simple!

I have also been approached by someone about sponsoring a Knitter's Retreat in February at Alma de Mujer. The cost per person would be around $200 for the entire weekend - meals included - and up to 21 people can attend. I need some feedback on this. Anyone ever been to / heard of this place? Would anyone be interested in paying to go spend the entire weekend sitting around with other knitters, exchanging ideas, knitting, having a possible yarn swap, with maybe a choice of project bags for the weekend?

Also - shhhhh - I bought a spinning wheel. It's here at the store - some of you may have already gotten to see it. (It's an Ashford Traditional Double Drive) I'm still trying to make anything that even closely resembles knittable yarn, but I've been told it just takes practice. We're going to get up REALLY early Sunday and run to the Kid N Ewe Fiber Festival in search of some help. Anyone wanting to show off their skills and totally impress me is welcome to come and play with it - as long as we take turns. Ha Ha.

One more thing - (It worked so well to mention Franklin that I'm going to give this a try)
Hey You - Tom Hanks - Come to my new knitting store. Love ya! :)

Mission: Very Possible

Cue: Mission Impossible Theme
duh-duh-duh-duh, duh-duh-duh-duh, duh-duh-duh-duh, duh-duh-duh-duh -
da-da-da........da-da-da.....

Okay, Readers.
Your Mission: Should You Choose to Accept It......

Convince The Panopticon to Bring Dolores to Texas!!

The Knitting Nest has offered to host a shoot for the 1000 Knitters Project. All we need to do is convince Franklin to come to Texas. He's considering it. Now we need to really convince him.

Go Now.
Tell Franklin we want him here.
Tell Franklin we love him.
Tell Franklin how funny he is.
Use any bribe you can think of.

I have already mentioned we are next door to a liquor store.
Maybe that only works with Dolores......
Oh well, try it anyway!!

We will have the biggest party you have ever seen in a yarn shop. I have offered Margaritas and Fajitas ~ or ~ Texas Beer and BBQ. The nice men next door have even offered to loan me their margarita machine - how can we pass that up???
