Getting nervous....

So many things to do!!!! I have lists on my desk, on my iPhone, on the fridge, in my car......I need the next 20 hours to go in slow motion while I run around like a mouse in a cartoon.

Franklin will be here in less than 24 hours - I have had calls from all over the state asking directions, etc. One person even called and seriously wanted me to tell them which hotel he was staying at (gee, I don't remember....) The phone has been ringing about every 10 minutes. I think we have everything under control - who knows what will happen though?

I do know that someone from the Austin American Statesman is coming to talk to Franklin and Laura, from Jimmy Beans Wool is in town for the weekend and is going to try and make it to the store. That's really cool -I have spent some serious $$$ on that website back in the day before I was a LYSO.

If everyone comes at once we will have parking issues but we will work on it. I am prepared to have a car taking people back and forth across the busy street. For those who are adventurous you can park at Borders and walk. (Be sure and push the button at the cross walk and then MOVE IT!!) Those who want to hang out and knit are welcome to bring lawn chairs and sit in the shade of the building out front. If you do come and there is a long line, there is a Starbucks, Borders, Amy's Ice Cream, Austin Java ..and a lot more places ...across the street. You might want to take a break and come back. There is also the only Super Target in Austin city limits across the street - the next closest one is in Round Rock!

Door Prizes
Be sure and sign up for the door prizes while you are waiting for Franklin - we have lots of goodies to give away and you do not have to be present to win. (I will let Franklin draw the names after we are closed.) Shhh - we have THREE skeins of not-yet-released-but-much-talked-about Malabrigo Sock Yarn!!!!! Don't worry - it will be closely guarded!

And finally, Mr. Hank's News. I have gotten several emails asking if Hank will be around all day Saturday. I have not decided - if things are going well and he is getting his every 30 minute naps, he will probably be fine. But he's still 4 weeks away from having all of his shots and people are going to want to pet him - they just can't help it - he's SO CUTE!!! But they can't. So we'll see how the day is going. He did spend 2 hours with a trainer on Tuesday so we are in the process of learning all kinds of cool things - Lesson number 1 was "We don't chew on balls of yarn." Very important.
Here's a picture of someone in his most normal state right now - asleep:

I have to get back to those lists.
See You Saturday!!

I already see a resemblance!

(Yawn)
They're both pretty damn cute, if you ask me.

So far we've had a pretty good week. Everyone has been really understanding about not holding mr chewy until he has had all of his shots. He's sleeping all through the night - thank god!! - and the best part is both of the cats are just mildly interested in this little walking mop they keep seeing. He plays for 10 minutes and then falls over exhausted and sleeps for 15 or 20 minutes. It's been funny to watch him hop around in the grass - with those big old ears you'd swear he was part rabbit!

On Sunday we are going to have a customer in the store showing a new line of wickless candles, called Scentsy. They are great for people who have pets - (our cats are always getting too close to candles) or children because the wax does not get hot enough to burn if it is spilled. This is a little stretch from the Sunday Show and Sell that I have envisioned but I ordered one and I thought I would give Deena a chance to show them to more people at one time. If there is anyone else out there who MAKES THINGS and wants to bring them up here on Sunday and tell people where you will be - let me know. It's good advertising for both of us.

It's time to start working on that basket for Franklin -
He will be here in TWO WEEKS!!!!

Tick Tick Tick....

The clock is ticking down the hours until we pick up the puppy - Monday morning at 9 am is when we get to actually see him and bring him home. Still waiting for an official picture of exactly which puppy we are getting but the Vet says he's her favorite of the two but he's a little too short in length to show. That's okay, he's going to get "shown" off enough here at the store!

Home is another matter. We still need to find a home for our kids' cat: Noelle.

He is a good cat but he is a one person cat. He does not like any noisy activity and hates vacum cleaners. (Don't we all?) He has been neutered, he has been declawed and he can fetch sparkly balls better than most dogs - some mornings we wake up with them everywhere in our bed. He likes nothing more than to sit beside someone and purr his heart out.

If you know of anyone out there who is living alone and might like some company, have them come and talk to me. I might even throw in some free yarn as an adoption fee!!

SALE TIME!!!
We will be having a sale on Saturday for Mother's Day - I will have some flowers on my desk and if your yarn matches any of the flowers you will save 15%!
We will be closed on Sunday so I can spend the day with MY MOM and my baby boy and his new wife.

OH! One more thing - Knitting Daily finally announced that Staci won second place in their poetry contest!

Go over to her blog and say Way To Go!!! I guess now we'll have to have HER sign the wall of fame - I think I know just which name we can paint over to make room.......ha ha ha.

It's a Monday

55.jpg
It's wet and dreary outside - I planted cucumbers in the rain this morning but at least they're in the ground! I'll have some pictures of the garden soon - every tomato plant has blooms, ditto for almost every pepper plant and now there are blackberries where last week's blooms were. It's so much easier to be here all the time - last year I could only check on things on the weekends and that's not enough to keep ahead of bugs and pick the tomatoes before the birds get to them. I had an entirely different garden to stay ahead of during the week - thank goodness for automatic timers and sprinklers.

We had a DVD/VCR player installed this morning so we can now have TOM-TV. Or James Taylor in concert all day long. Or whatever anyone brings to watch! Suggestions anyone? We can certainly make Monday nights Movie Night.

This time next week we will have a Hank. We are picking him up Monday morning in Houston - (I was going to pick him up on Sunday but I didn't want to take him away from his Mother on her first Mother's Day.) - he will be making his debut at the store that afternoon.

That gives me a week to find a home for the cat in our house who does not share space well. If anyone out there knows someone who needs some company, please let me know. He is such a good cat when he's all by himself. He just does not play well with others and I'm tired of playing peacemaker at 4 in the morning. I will write more on him tomorrow.

What else......We will be having a big sale for Mother's Day next Saturday so come in and buy your mom some yarn or a gift certificate! We will be closed on Mother's Day so I can go spend the day with MY mother.
