Yes, folks. It's ordered.
I think it will make the perfect yarn for Hank's first sweater.
Sweater? It's almost July, you're thinking to yourself. Why, yes, you're correct, but Lorna's Laces has a very long "lead time". It might actually be here in time for our First Anniversary Party. That's in September folks.
There's a wonderful picture of Dolores modeling the yarn on Franklin's website this morning.
And THAT brings me to another thought - if they are going to name yarn after famous bloggers then I think we should all campaign for a Very Pink colorway. Go ahead. Email them: yarn@lornaslaces.net
Do it right now!!!

I thought every day was Take Your Dog to Work Day....Right?
Hank thinks so, anyway. Now, if I could just teach him how to chase away all the dust bunnies we'd be set!

2007 World Series - James sung the National Anthem (Game 2)
The Boston Red Sox Won

2008 NBA Championship - James sung the National Anthem (Game 1)
The Boston Celtics Won
Now. Can we talk about the Superbowl?
Come on! What were they thinking????
I think the girl from Ugly Betty sang the National Anthem.
Or someone who looked like her.
It was The NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS for God's sake.
Why didn't they ask James to sing?
And again, why did the coach change his sweatshirt?????
Man, we could have had a sports sweep for New England.
How cool would that have been?
Okay. Back to Knitting.
Way to Go Boston.
Wait.
Sorry Phil - you are still an awesome coach.
And one helluva good looking man.
Changing gears for a moment….
Lately I have been constantly surrounded by knitting, planning for knitting or famous knitters. Today there will be no knitting content, even though I am working furiously on a sweater for Christina’s baby (or two babies!!) I would post a picture but on size 5 needles there’s not much exciting progress in plain old stockinette.
Today we’re going to talk about the garden. I tried something new this year: Cucumbers.
Here’s a close up shot:

Here’s one showing that they are now taller than the cage I am using to support them.

Anyone out there have a hint for me as to what I do now that they are too tall? I suppose I could take some bamboo stakes and tie them together and make a teepee but it sure will be tall and one good gust of wind would just take it all down.
Here are some tomatoes (also almost too tall)

And part of this year’s Blackberry crop so far:

These are growing great – my only problem is the little white fluffy alarm clock that wakes me up every morning about 6 am must be about 30 minutes behind the cardinals having a nice fresh breakfast of my blackberries. I guess I’m going to have to get some nets. That’ll put me right up there with the real farmers – right?
Speaking of my little white fluffy alarm clock:
Here he is guarding the garden – unless he is distracted by a butterfly. Or a bird. Or a snail. Or a blade of grass.

I believe the red bikini top waving from the top of the UT Tower has been removed ......we'll all keep the owner "our little secret".
If you haven't read Franklin's post regarding the day, it's finally up.
It's awesome. (Get your kleenex first.)
Just like we knew it would be.
Just like Franklin.
What an awesome day.
I can't even begin to thank everyone enough for all the help that went into making yesterday such a wonderful success.
First of all, Franklin. Gee whiz - what a guy.
Ever since we began communicating by email....(okay, he was communicating - I was taunting him with weather reports of unusually warm days in February and March........especially on snowy days in Chicago..not nice, I know) anyway...I kept reporting to everyone in the store how funny he was in his emails. I would watch the blog posts from places he had visited in the last few months to see: 1. How in the hell were they organizing this?????? and 2: How were they entertaining Franklin? And all I kept reading from everyone's blogs and websites were the words NICE and FUNNY. Over and over.
And they were right.
He is a genuinely nice guy who is truly happy with his life, happy to be on the little path that this book is taking him, and happy with whatever we wanted to do. (we HAD to take him to Gueros because as far as I am concerned he IS a knitting ROCKSTAR!!)
I will have to admit that YES, Austin is a wonderful town but it is the people that make it so wonderful. So..people of Austin, THANK YOU. (And the people of Dallas and Houston and San Antonio - thank you for coming to Austin for the weekend!!)
Stephanie, Steven, Staci, Cindi, Gary, Amy, Christina, Amanda and my Mr. Wonderful - Thank you all for your hard work, organization and support.
(And Hank, thanks for being such a good boy all day!)
Everyone can see Stephanie's pictures of the day here.
Thanks Steph, for everything. Leslie loves you.
And Franklin, Thanks for being YOU.
And thanks for giving The Knitting Nest the most wonderful walls in the world.
WE LOVE YOU!!
I will post the winners of the doorprizes later today after we get Franklin to the airport.
