I've decided to quit wasting money on things to chew on and just give him ten dollar bills instead.
No, not really.

Save 20% on yarn!
Free Snow Cones!
(Note to self: Get snow cone machine and cherry syrup.)

Hank and I discovered really cool store in Austin this week called The Lofty Dog. I have been reading on Ravelry that other Westies like to rest their head on things so I bought him a dog pillow for the car - he always goes to sleep in the car. Now he's officially spoiled. Yeah. Like he wasn't already.
And, uh, hey - you all might want to make sure you keep Valentine's Day clear to meet some famous people you all really love.
Starts with an R.
I LOVE R.
Shhhhh....... for now.
Shhhhhhh.
In other news - The Austin Chronicle just began their online voting for Best of Austin - Please go here and vote for The Knitting Nest as Best New Store in Austin.
Now. I have some yarn to fondle, uh...... I mean..... unpack.

This is a digital stitch counter for your iPhone.
How Awesome!!!

I was yelling GO GO GO!!!! David was yelling GO GO GO!!!
Hank looked at the two of us and turned around and started barking at the TV.
I'm sure he was just the cheerleader they needed.
That race was just awesome.

These two have been friends since 8th grade. I have billions of pictures of the two of them together; I have pictures of them hot, cold, wet, mad, asleep, marching, eating, playing games, on roller coasters, with alligators, on a school bus, on a charter bus, on an airplane, in airports, in zoos, at Homecoming, at the Prom, at Disneyland, at Knotts Berry Farm, at Sea World, at The Alamo, at Six Flags, on Bourbon Street, on Venice Beach and in Central Park. From sea to shining sea.
These three pictures mean the most.
The first one is the night they graduated from high school.
The middle picture is from a trip to New York one Christmas - we took Tomas with us and almost lost him that week in the subway.
The last picture was taken this Saturday right after his mom and I gave each other a big hug and a High Five and said YES!!! They Finally Did It.
We also agreed to give up on the arranged marriage we have been discussing for years. But they'll always be friends.
Fires and Hurricanes and Birthdays - Oh my!!!
According to The Statesman, the fire was started by some dumbass who learned to smoke but didn't learn to put his butt out. I will say it again.
DUMB ASS. I have other names for you as well.
Thank you, Tropical Storm Edouard, for sparing the Texas coast and my baby boy down there. Thanks as well for the much needed rain - my garden thanks you profusely. (I am spending way too much time worrying about cucumber production - or, the lack thereof - we drove by a neighbor's house who actually raked up grass and put it out in sacks to be picked up and I asked my husband "Doesn't that fool know he should be spreading that grass around in his garden like mulch to help keep the moisture in the ground???" He just looked at me.) Oh, to have the room to be like Martha Stewart. Now that Mr. Chewy and I get up early we spend lots of time looking at the garden.
Speaking of Mr. Chewy.
Hank turned 5 months old this week and we bought him a present.

His crate was setting off the seat belt detector in my car and the damn thing was "dinging" all the way to the store every morning - so we bought Hank a car seat. I know. I'm becoming one of those crazy old ladies who has a billion pictures of her dog in her purse - only I just whip out my iPhone and say "Look, isn't he cute??" Oh hell, what am I saying, he's always with me!!

We have to see how it tastes, right?
Hank has also been to the Sunset Valley Farmer's Market this week for the first time (and of course, he was the cutest little thing there.) and to Furr Factor where he encountered a little girl dog named MacKenzie. He was a perfect gentleman.

He also got to go on his very first shopping expedition to Crate and Barrel - Here he is patiently waiting outside for Amanda to finish buying bedroom furniture for her new apartment.
And that brings me full circle around to Amanda.
Store announcement: We will be closing early - at 4 pm - on Saturday the 9th.
Staci has a Beginner's class from 1 to 3 and Stephanie will be working from 1 to 4. (If you ask her nicely she might sell you some of her handspun yarn while she's there. She might even spin some for you!!!)
I have a very important college graduation ceremony to attend and then we will be having a big private party at the store to celebrate. YAHOOOOO!!!!
