There are several big projects getting lots of attention that take billions of colors - the Ripple Afghan, the Hexagon Blanket, the Wild Stripes Blanket and, my favorite, the snake above, which takes 46 freaking colors!!!
So....we are going to borrow an idea from the nice ladies who came up with the Malabrigo Swap Idea (Thanks Brenna and Christina!!) and start a Cascade 220 Yarn Swap. Stephanie is going to measure the yardage needed for the blankets and we will proceed - for now - start gathering up your Cascade 220!!
Did you know that 2009 has been designated The International Year of Natural Fibres by the United Nation? Here is a wonderful website with whole pages (including a little history lesson) devoted to each form of fiber. Why did I expect a picture of Woody Harrelson on the hemp page? And yes, the mom inside of me is saying "Oooh, what an awesome science fair project this could help create!!!" Ahhh, those were the days.
I read about this on the Martha's Vineyard Fiber Farm Website - this is a farm that actually sells shares of the farm to people and I am seriously thinking about buying a share. And while it's not exactly the piece of property I set my sites on long ago It's the only way I'll ever own a piece of my favorite little island. And it comes with fiber or yarn! And I'm at a very curious stage in my life where if I had to choose between diamonds from C.B. Stark or fiber from a real live farm on MV - I would probably choose the fiber! I guess that's what happens when you go from being the spoiled wife to the hard working yarn shop owner. Besides, we still think Hank ate one of the last diamonds I got from there anyway.
Happy Monday everyone - hey look - the sun is out and it's supposed to be back in the 80's today. Yay!
Well, the wonderful story on the front page of Ravelry was up for almost 3 weeks and we had requests for t-shirts from all over the world!!
Just as they replaced the story with the Bobby awards, I pop up on the Knitty blog. Pretty Cool.
And yo, just so you can start making plans NOW, Amy Singer will be in 'da house for Anniversary Number T.W.O.
OMG. I HAVE to stop watching American Idol - Randy Jackson is rubbing off on me bad. I've got to remember that the only time I can say "Look, Dog, It's like this......" is when I'm speaking to Hank.
Come by tomorrow evening to meet Steven Houghton on HIZKNITS - and all SXSW wristbands and badges will save you 15% on yarn during SXSW!
Anyone out there who can get my husband in to see Rachel Ray's party? Let me know. As much as I talk about Tommy boy I owe him.

Sold my Ashford Wheel and bought a Ladybug this weekend. I started putting it together and was missing three parts. I looked everywhere and even turned the boxes upside down. Turns out they actually put it all together and actually spin with each wheel at the factory and then take it apart and the first step is already done for you - so all three parts are already screwed inside the wheel. After I called yesterday and asked about it they decided to explain that to the customer service department who answers the phone calls. (Can you imagne how that conversation went?? "Oh by the way, the little instruction book going out with all these wheels is completely wrong......" Oh well, now it's all good.
Now I have to get my drafting down and learn how to slooowwww dowwwwnnnn .....according to Steph. And practice practice practice. (In all my spare time) And I joined the Schacht group on Ravelry where I found out that all wheels have a name.
Hmm. I'm thinking a good name would be Forrest.
SPIN FORREST, SPIN!!
